I don't think he's guilty of murder, but criminal behaviour seems engrained in him.
After just 7 months being free, he is of course on remand on an assault charge in Edinburgh Prison after spending the last 7 months rampaging round Edinburgh.
I remember thinking when he was released that he'd either be back in gaol or dead, and not surprisingly he is.
What a way to repay all those people who spent years campaigning for his release from Death Row, they must be wondering why the hell they bothered.
Edinburgh Prison is probably like a holiday camp compared to Death Row, and he's also in his home town he's probably quite happy. Which would be just as well because gaol is clearly where he belongs, as he's proved several times since his release.

I'd imagine Craig is taking the piss, green_moth. If you've read the likes of the Record lately, it's the kind of spirit they usually try to invoke. Obviously, that's while they're not too busy giving kilts to Robbie Williams and trying to claim some Z-lister from Hollywood as Scottish due to some kind of distant relative. Or publishing some non-article about how person x "loves Scotland and the Scottish people".

Anyway, while he shouldn't be fawned over by the papers, he has had a rough time of it. Whether he did it or not is not easy to determine, but when you look at the facts regarding his conviction and the treatment he received, it's clear that he hasn't had a fair trial. People might say there's no smoke without fire (pretty poor form in this case, I just realised :P), but it's not unheard of for the police & prosecutors to concentrate on convicting someone even when the evidence is weak and/or totally inaccurate. Due to the way in which the prosecutors pursued Richey, I don't think there's any way in hell they'd let him go free without a retrial if they thought there was a decent chance of a conviction. I take the no contest offer to be the prosecutors saving face. If Richey was freed with a full acquittal, they'd look like utter dicks.

As for Richey allegedly being guilty because he accepted the no contest deal -- if you were sitting in the jail for all of your adult life and your heart started giving you gip, would you spurn the chance of freedom? He's been screwed over and had his (compelling) appeal case rejected so many times that he is probably extremely sceptical about receiving a fair trial. If he's innocent, I don't blame him for pleading no contest, regardless of whether it puts him in the clear. I don't blame hi for selling his story, either. Cunts like Jade Goody get thousands for selling their pig-faced sob stories; if Richey is innocent, he has the mother of all bad luck stories, not to mention not having two ha'pennies to rub together.

Anyway, I'm off to get my Daily Record special commemorative 28 page wax paper Kenny Richey Death Row Scot pull-out. Page one is him drinking IRN-BRU, eating a bridie, reading Oor Willie and saying "it's braw to be home" while the daily record sits on the table in front of him.
