Episode 5 of Limmy’s Show tonight

BBC2 Scotland (UK-wide on Sky 990), 10pm.

Nae Falconhoof or Jacqueline tonight, Falconhoof/Jacqueline fans, but they’ll be back next week, the last episode.

Tonight you’ll see John Paul: Junior (my first podcast episode); Dee Dee outside, spotting the scariest thing he’s ever seen in his life; and Mr. Mulvaney getting shot of some evidence.

Plus you’ll bear witness to the brainstorming of four hilarious, brand new comedy character creations, right before your very eyes.

Hope you like it!

Cannae wait mate, Dee Dee is the fuckin man! Reminds me a lot of myself back in my teenage years…
Lookin forward to John Paul, enjoyed the brief intro last week “YOU'RE A TOILET”!
Still waitin on TOM the psycho Christian, and Benjamin “BAM!” with is ad campaings. Hopefully see all these guys in season 2 mate!
Aw aye, one that would be great for TV would be blackpool PHIL at Madness with the hen party…maybe BBC would think that was a bit risky tho?!
Keep up the good work mate, lovin Monday nights now.

  2. jonnyg69 says:

Cannae wait to see the Deedee sketch and the John Paul bit. The amount of times I've heard 'Your a toilet' in the last week is mental!

  3. deeboi says:

  4. kebab1701 says:

Haha i see the blog post of yesterdays webcam action has been hastily deleted … thats a sunday afternoon i wouldn't mind getting back. Anyway looking forward to the show tonight.

  5. xbrandxnewx says:

cant wait. gutted this is the second last one.

I hope its not, but it would be shite if this was the only season you got! quite enjoyed tunning into the show, tv had just been shite recently. I mean some people have criticized your show, but at the same time, theres not really been a tv show that everyones liked, theres always people that dont like things for what ever reason. Even if its just as pathetic a reason as, 'I cant like that cause everyone else does'. anyway, looking forward to tonights show!

  6. picklish says:

it was like stumbling into a graphic design version of watchers web, with the soundtrack from hell oozing through in the background. Did the junkie find the eggs, or the shite, or nothing in the end?

  7. I can't wait, though I'll miss Jacqueline McCafferty very much. It's a shame that the series is nearly done, it would be crazy of them not to offer you a second series.

There's a wee buzzard that sits on the lamp-post right outside our house who we've called Falconhoof in your honour. He's a great wee guy, just sits there and watches us.

  8. RobbieStewart says:

Ma pal was in the clugie today, so a soak some paper towels an throw it intae the cubicle and shouts 'you're a toilet!'. He'd never watched that episode though; he didnt get it….

Btw! You releasing a dvd of aww yer stuff aye?

    Including some bonus playthings :p

  9. Dougie Nixon says:

Souds like its gonnae be a belter!

  10. kebab1701 says:

Haha aye he found the shite in the box of eggs. http://tinyurl.com/yfacapw

  11. gillies22 says:

wit happened wae the repeat of episode 4? did the bbc fuck it up

  12. Jamie says:

Fuckin' Chompin' it the bit ere'…

  13. richard_p says:

haha “Just Piss Yerself” were did that cum fae man. N this is a bit sad but when mr mulvaneys drivin', hes drivin doon maryhill road n then a few seconds later he drivin' the other way, the bit hes just passed haha, sumbudy mucked up there :P haha “wits the ploblem” keep it up as per man canny wait fur nxt week awready ;)

  14. CalvinoM says:

Thought that was a great episode.

Was killing myself at the crap character sketches, especially 'What's the ploblem?'

  15. Thought the nostalgic Millport bit was very nice indeed.

  16. conorcarden says:

See Martin Quinn ( John paul sketch junior ) He Goes To Ma School In Renfrew , He's Funny as , Howd he manage to be in it limmy

  17. jon1981 says:

Good episode, the last one to round up all the character ideas was a fucking belter! I lost it when it cut to 'soaking guy'

    Well done limmy : )

  18. stuladisco says:

    Best Episode yet Limmy! Genius!

What did the door guy say? 21 Gigahertz Shlrrp Shlrrp?!

  19. oasisbobo says:

    loved it limmy!!

  20. andy says:

the end was funny. 'im sorry folks i know its shite' that made me laugh and then in the funeral parlour when ye finally see the 4 characters i howled at them all especially the 'whats the ploblem' guy he was pure dwane dibley.

im starting to get used to it, i still think half of it is pants and id like to see that 80's cop killed off. get the 'im your worstest nightmare' guy to shoot the cop in the fuckin face and we'l never see him again.

i really enjoyed the millport sketch, i feel like that sometimes.

  21. smellslikecheese says:

This ep wasn't your best but i'll honestly say i was in fuckin knots at the end sketch. My wife was looking at me like i had secretly smoked the crack we usually keep for the 3am shivers.

  22. Jamie Green says:

Millport sketch really got to me.

    Loved this week again mate.

  23. elephantstone says:

Definitely my favourite episode of the series so far, which is surprising because my two favourite regular sketches so far have been Falconhoof and Gary and neither made an appearance tonight. The literal mini rant was great and Dee Dee was really funny again. I really enjoyed the pilot last year and this one seemed a lot closer to it than the other episodes. The short and snappy observational stuff is what I usually enjoy most and there was more of that than usual tonight. That said, the longer looking for inspiration sketch was funny too and soaking man, 'who turns up pure soaking for no reason' had me in stitches with his appearance in the last sketch. I think on Karen Dunbar's hit-and-miss show a few years ago she had a 'drunk lassie' sketch that she managed to somehow string out six similar but slightly different situations; it was rubbish and that reminded me of it.

The serious bits you do like when you were talking about Millport and the swings from the pilot episode are always a nice touch. I take a sort of 'don't give up on the things that make you happy just because you're getting older' attitude from them, which I'm not sure is your intention or just my own personal take on it.

  24. broonbottle says:

Loved the ending. Doubled over. genius.

  25. CalvinoM says:

When you were the mushroom guy at the end, you totally reminded me of Spud from Trainspotting.

  26. stillie says:

“Just pish yersel.” Best sketch of the series so far. Laughed like fuck, took me completely by surprise!

  27. Brabazon says:

Just caught up on all the shows on iPlayer, one after the other. Genuinely brilliant stuff. When's the DVD out…?

  28. Gordon says:

I used tae go oot wae a lassie that holidayed in Millport aboot the time you talk aboot in that sketch. I mind goin doon tae visit her for the day, and daein her nut in by tryin tae find oot if any cunt had kissed/shagged her. Thing is, I didnae just come oot and ask her. I fannied aboot aw day talkin in some kinda code. Probing questions in between endless snoggin. Never did get an answer. Never seen her again.
Had nothing but contempt for Millport after that day.

  29. hod on a fuckin' minute traveller… “Nae Falconhoof thank fuck” I love the 'hoof… 'mon the hoof!

  30. Ludo says:

    EKKKKKEEEEZZ HAHAHAHAHA

  31. eliowalker says:

The series has been dynamite limmy :D !! CAnt wait for the finally theres a few brilliant sketches youve missed like what would you do lol hope to see it next week …. Hope to god u get your second series mate and cant wait to u release the dvds !!
    Keep up the good work

  32. Anne says:

    Did you really pish yourself?

  33. Rantin Rab says:

I must admit, I thought your show would be the same old shite done by others. But it's original and funny! Is it on the telly down south?

I might even follow you on twatter again…

  34. Cancer bands was teh best bit of observational I've seen a long while. Nice work

  35. Freddo says:

Pissed myself at the drunken lady at the funeral, sooooo goooood

  36. The four character bits were brilliant, the end scene had us laughing for ages afterwards. I really hope there's a second series. It's been great fun watching every week, I canny imagine telly without Limmy's Show now!

Please hurry up with the dvd ta.

  37. Verbatim says:

BEST EVER! BEST EVER! BEST EVER! BEST EVER!

I look forward to Monday night so much now it's untrue.

  38. greggyboy1980 says:

mate the largs sketch was a thing of beauty. cheers

  39. jambota says:

That funeral sketch is the best sepulchral-esque sketch I've seen since the Big Train Ping-Pong funeral home one. Loved the way the whole show was a vehicle for it, and you've taught us well that something can be way more than the sum of its parts. Still, the 'Literally' bugbear of yours was quite tiresome. Everyone's heard someone bemoaning that. So 2008.

  40. joefritzl says:

fuckin SPOT ON wae the cancer awareness bands.

i regularly ask my mates what happened to their bands since they stopped wearin them.

now that everyone has stopped, a might start wearin them.

  41. joefritzl says:

the mushroom guy looked fuckin freaky by the way.

  42. kaisersossy says:

Well done limmy pure deconstructed awrat pish comedy we have been dished up by ra BBC. Fukin little britain pish catchphrase shite.
In that last sketch aboot the funeral and all the brainstorming before it. I bet that was like a fly on the wall take on a messers Walliams and Lucas meeting, except without them having the self awareness to see whit there dain is really shit and like shooting fish in a barrel.
I bet that goat the biggest laugh fae the twats that think yer show is shite because theres nae canned laughter tae tell them when tae laugh.

  43. kaisersossy says:

    P.S

Im Selling “Drunk Lassie”, “Dae you want this mushroom?”, “Soaking Guy” “ECKYS” and “Whits ra ploblem?” T-shirts oan ma website if anycunt wants wan.

    One size fits all.

  44. Limmy says:

    Thanks for the comments, everybody.

  45. Limmy says:

Aye, I had to for authenticity, I think everybody would have felt cheated if I didn't.

  46. Limmy says:

I don't know when the DVD will be out, by the way.

  47. CalumM says:

I fuckin lost it at “soakin' guy”

  48. Anne says:

    You manky wee bastard.

  49. Elaine says:

There's probably no point in me rating the shows but think the 3rd one still just sneaks ahead. Even so, when I think about last night's, I could rhyme off lots of bits that tickled me. I liked Mr Mulvaney returning to the Star Bar, your 'nail on the head' rants & how the brainstorming sketch came together – you are the weaver!

I remember having a sausage & piccalilli sandwich on a day out to Millport when I was wee. (I had to google the spelling of 'piccalilli' there so that Galvanizer wouldn't chin me…)

They keep using 'surreal' when they announce your show coming on next. It reminds me of a show I watched about the making of the League of Gentlemen when the writers were reading the reviews of their new series. The 'surreal' description did their heads in; I think one of them said “it's not as if Dali's in it…”

  50. deeboi says:

I liked the literally sketch, as I've been noticing recently how many TV presenters abuse the word literally, it's unreal. And also the amount that can't even pronounce it properly, they say “Lichuly”
Also Mr Mulvaney was good and especially going back to wipe his prints off the Starbar, class.
“Just pish yersel” was good and Dee Dee is always good.
The best for me had to be the funeral sketch, fuckin' brilliant.
Looking forward to next week but sort of not at the same time as its the last one of the series.

  51. povey says:

I've 'literally' watched the fineral scene on i-player a million times ;)

  52. kaisersossy says:

If Ive told you wance ave tolded you a million times dont exaggerate !!!

  53. Jambota says:

Aye, so then. What did the writing say on the blue screen that came up on John Paul's computer? I was thinking in Dee Dee style how what with all your computing background you'd have done something to make that screen come up. BBC guy comes up and tells you what they'll do and you're like no, I'm gonna do it myself and he's like all surprised but really impressed at the same time. What does it say?

  54. budatruda says:

brilliant, yet again! it'll be a travesty if you don't get another series on the back of this one.

    budatruda

  55. ripvanjim says:

    “EKEEZ”

Fucking brilliant, the last sketch was genius. I've made everybody watch it over n over again. Whits the ploblem? hahahaha. Canny believe thats 5 gona awready. MORE MORE MORE, WE WANT BLOOD LIMMY, BLOOD!!!!!

  56. Kris Doig says:

Yo Limmy, Ace, Awesome, Amazing, Automatically Arousing, Acerplazza.

The show is great Limmy, I could think of more A's to say but meh, Assasins Creed 2 calls. Oh look that was another A. Alright!.

    auf wiedersehen

  57. TicketyBoo says:

Is this all on you tube yet cause I cant find it??

  58. tarnach says:

Really slayed me that episode. Especially the funeral, and mulvaney going to so much effort for one chocolate bar. Best yet.

  59. garrybuck says:

    magic pay-aff at the end
    i wis literally decked laughin

hope theres tonnes o extras on the dvd
if we dina get a series 2 set john paul on the cunts!

  60. Erin Gordon says:

Im sooo glad i have sky+ to rewind and watch you pishing yourself , oh and the 4 characters at the end . My wee sister came in from school today and said everyone was shouting ” whats the ploblem ” ” want a mushroom”
    Best episode so far

  61. Erin Gordon says:

Oh and you seemed to resemble a better looking Shane McGown from the Pogues , as the Wet Guy character

  62. johnnyorgan says:

My fave episode yet Limmy. The most belly laughs by far. Not got a single criticism of that episode. I'll watch that again and again. Cheers mate. Monday nights just won't be the same without you when the series is over.

  63. Dougie Nixon says:

Some of my mates who watch it all the time do quotes from the show with were sayin it was dissapointing, but i thought it was one of the best ones yet, not that any of them were at low standard ive genuinley found all of the episodes really funny. Only dissapointed that next weeks is the last in the series :( Seriously limmy your hilarious! Just piss yersel haha!

  64. Mike Palmer says:

That was the best show yet Limmy.

I was crying when Mr Malvaney came back to take the prints off that Starbar, what a funny as fuck bit of comedy.

I hope you get a second series I really do.

  65. Mike Duncan says:

Watched this earlier at work on the I player. Was in knots at the pish yersel sketch – best episode of the series like!

  66. frou says:

Great stuff. I look forward to it every week, and I never watch TV (as non-TV-watchers always feel the need to say)

  67. sonia says:

uch this is torture reading everyone's comments and not being able to see it.

    Piiiiiiiiiiiiirrrrrraaaaaaaate!

  68. jonnyg69 says:

Quality. Seems to be getting darker everytime. Think somebody mentioned it before but is there any plans to get the theme tune out as a download?

  69. clydeian says:

You can never get back tae Millport. Ever.

  70. danielmcardle says:

    Wit's the ploblem?

  71. Awizlik.... says:

Thought last night's show was magic and I'm sad there's only one episode left. I'm sure you'll get a second series though. Well done Limmy.

  72. Dubya B Yeats says:

Mulvaney wiping the prints off the Starbar was class.

  73. easyphloem says:

Hi Limmy, The Millport scene was one of the best examples of pathos I've seen on TV, reminded me of some of the early Steptoe and Son episodes, it takes talent to create something like that. Cheers again

    TC

ps when is john paul going to be castrated?

  74. Guilty Bystander says:

The funeral sketch was brilliant – I don't usually laugh at anything, but that was really funny. Mulvaney wiping the prints of the Starbar was great too.
    Top work!

  75. I loved it. Really dark show and really spot on comedy/pathos/uncomfortable viewing. Genius, man.

  76. kaisersossy says:

Somtimes limmy when you do the “milport” n “swings” things.
I get the phrase “….. before turning the gun on himself” popping intae ma head.

  77. kaisersossy says:

See this twitter how does it operate? I mean is all the messages that are oan ya page yours or are they other peoples messages?

  78. garynoble says:

Limmy. You're a catchphrase producing machine man. Genius.

Already earlier today i've heard the following
    “no you did not traveller”
    “riiiight” (deedee style)
    “you want this mushroom?”
“yes or no. YES or NO!”
    “Lloyds pharmacy”

and of course. “you're a toilet”

I've also seen many walls with Benny Harvey on it. Well done Limmy. You've started some awesome things.

  79. tivert says:

    Yeah, thanks, you cunt!
I now have 2 people in this house that keep yelling out, “What's the Ploblem” in absolutely every conversation.

    Best episode yet!

    Now, who want's this mushroom?

  80. xbrandxnewx says:

hahaa epic show again limmy. Really do wish you the best of luck with the second season again after that episode. The T.V is genuinely pish. like dribble! especially on the bbc. So heres hoping they give you a second season and give people something to watch again. You herd any feedback from them atol? or does that not happen till the end so they can have feedback from the public first?

oh, and I actually feel the need to thankyou for the “cancer awareness band” sketch though! I remember thinking people were just putting them on for the whole fashion thing, why couldn't they just put their money in the wee buckets like everyone else, take the wee sticker you got for doing so, and fuck off! Bet every daft bastard will be showing them off again but!

There was a couple of things i didn't like, but as i said there never been another tv show that every second of it I loved! and i am sure someone else liked the bits i didn't and vice a versa!

anyone going to be missing from the last episode, of season 1, hopefully?

here to the grammar nazis, I apologize as this was typed in a hurry….

  81. aikendrum says:

Like a few others, “Millport” seemed to have that “oh, I seem to have something in my eye…*dab*dab*” effect on me. My own “Millport” was Whiting Bay in sunny Arran in the Summer of 1980 – “Echo beach far away in time” – ye cannae go back, mairs the pity.

    :-(

  82. richard_p says:

You'll get it oan BBC iPlayer :)

  83. Despite the overload of gushing praise on here, I too feel compelled to add my tuppence worth that I laffed out loud at most of show 5.
    Guid work as always fella.

    clap clap

  84. Limmy says:

Thanks for all the comments. I'm glad a lot of yous liked episode 5, and I'm very glad that the catchphrases are bugging people, haha.

I don't know when the DVD's coming out, and there's nae word yet of a second series.

  85. stuarty says:

Lovin the show Limmy! The Millport sketch hit home in a big way coz I use to go down for the summer, was quality! Nae aggro! Just havin a laugh! Been missin it big time recently!

  86. cogan8 says:

You NEED to get a second series, i dunno what i'll do if i cannae run about the office shouting “right remember me CRASH!”

    or “here you ya wank”

excellent show mate, lovin seein maryhill in it as well

    jump the chasm

  87. RobbieStewart says:

Guess we'll just need to watch it on iplayer for the time being! Looking forward to episode 6 :) . How about any live stuff, any gigs in glasgow at the stand or that?

    Mad Ped…..

  88. Joseph Elms says:

Awsome episode just watched it on iplayer. I know you dont like people to deconstruct the work but there are definately shakespearean thematic motifs to the series and particulary evident in episode 5, exploring the hinderland between comedy and tragedy. Sometimes the sketches are very touching, a testament to your straight acting talent, and at other times they strongly evidence the complete idiosyncracy of your 'brand' of comedy/personality. I think that the comedy series format may be too constrictive for your next project but the BBC would be very lucky to keep you on their books. There is a richness and sublimating vision to the series which trancends the idea of a comedy sketch series. The cultural implications are already evident as people down here are genuinely buzzing about the characters and the content using the catchphrases and recreating the sketches on the bus. The closest comparison i can think of is when Bo' Selecta came out and was as divisive as it was unique. Thats it.

  89. KennyA says:

think that's been the best one so far.

  90. sonia says:

Aye but Joseph, do you like it? A simple yes or no will suffice.

  91. Joseph Elms says:

the response would be emphatically in the affirmative or aye

  92. Kaz says:

Falconhoof is my fantasy, love you loads…..last night's episode was the best yet, loved the cancer bands point and millport too, but the ending was awesome…what's the ploblem is fucking hilarious, i was pissin myself at it and my man is saying “the joke is it's NOT funny” but it was….hehe
why are people wanting you to get a second series? am i goin mental or is this not it? i want you to get a THIRD series, so have been asking the bbc online for it!
can't wait to see falconhoof next week…..rawr ;) xx

  93. Brammer says:

Best episode yet Limmy. I'm enjoying the whole series but this episode in particular was really good. The balance between the comedy and the more serious sketches was spot on, just as I'd finish laughing at one thing, the tone would change to something a little bit darker that would make me think. I liked that.

Having said that, I would enjoy seeing characters like Dee-Dee and Jaqueline McCafferty expanded, I could watch either of them for a whole episode.

Anyway, two thumbs up mate. :)

  94. CalvinoM says:

There were quite a few times during the football tonight where the ref was having a word with someone or a wee scuffle was breaking out. Couldn't watch it without saying “What's the ploblem?” and ended up in stitches every time. Definitely the best catchphrase of the series so far!

  95. saebom says:

5 was the best so far.
As a Korean, I hardly understand your saying but I'm quite enjoying your show.

  96. Danny says:

Ive just tried to watch it but BT dont like iplayer, even though i pay full whack for it. I saw 2 mins of it. Cunts.

  97. Weemoxy says:

By far the best show yet. I was a bit disappointed by the earlier episodes, but the payoff from the funeral scene, Dee Dee on the bus and John Paul were excellent. Good work.

  98. crazzy2010 says:

Please, please, please can someone post episode 5 on youtube or something like that so us expats can watch the limmy show?? We would be very grateful!!!! I player doesnt work in Africa :(

  99. weetinker says:

just watched it on iplayer because my video recorder didn't tape it the other night.

mulvaney is still ahead of the rest (except falconhoof). the follow up scene of cleaning the fingerprints off the starbar was inspired

  100. Aquafina says:

    Youtube, anyone!?!? Please!!!!

  101. sonia says:

Pirate, goany help us out here? Pleeeeeeaaaase??

  102. Ludo. says:

Haw joe, you don't look like that in real life haha.

  103. the pirate says:

sorry sonia the pirates life is in turmoil however this nice chap has done episode 5 in better quality http://www.youtube.com/user/deeboi70
from dee on the bus down to new characters is episode 5 ;-)

  104. Malc says:

Starbar clean was genius and so wis “Pish Yersel!” – LLF (laughin like fuck) at that.

But Dee Dee, man, Dee Dee is the dugs.

KEep it up. Roll on season 2

  105. sonia says:

    weheh!! Cheers pirate/deeboi.

  106. Can i add that my girlfriend says when i come to bed after a glass of wine and passs out straight away, she says she lies and stares at me and whispers “your an alchky!” repeatedly.

    cheers

  107. deeboi says:

There should be enough there to give you a decent fix sonia.

  108. deeboi says:

Been called loads of things in my life but never a “nice chap” hahaha cheers mate.

    Glad you found the vids.

  109. nightslasher says:

I like the scenes where the orange-faced Cobra cop stalking the evil disembodied voice.

  110. fraserg says:

pirate i prefer watching the show as it its on tv (as in not seperate clips) please sort your life out and resume the service

    all the best

  111. fraserg says:

Limmy, that 4 characters is the best 9 minutes of TV ever made.

  112. JohnGee says:

    Limmy,

Just returned from a long overseas trip and just sat and watched all 5 episodes on V+.

Absolutely blown away with it, I remember watching the “Swings” sketch in the pilot and being genuinely touched by it, and you managed to do that again with the “Millport” sketch.

Falconhoof is 1 of the best characters to emerge on TV in a long LONG time, the 1st sketch when the woman says “He skinned me son.” had me cringing as the bold Falconhoof asks her if she wants to play, then she bails out the window. You're acting in that sketch stands out for me, top class man.

For me the bit in the “Funeral” sketch when Jakey Burd is slumped over the coffin and says “Let's get this cracked open” … well it took me half an hour to compose myself again, ribs well and truly done in laughing, missus rubbing my back an aw that telling me to breathe…. had to rewind it to see mushroom boy deliver the final coup de grace…

So much to comment on over the series, but it would take me ages….. suffice to say I think this is some of the best comedy to emerge in a long, long time and some of it is absolute fucking genius.

  113. pmacd says:

Watched the Show a few times.

Generally thought it was a load if shite (series 1) but series 2 has defo had me laughing out loud a few times. Dee Dee is funny as fuck – the kitchen scene had me in stitches.

Though, there is still a lot of stuff which I think is utter bollocks – The brainstorming sketch was pish – but generally entertaining n funny in parts…

  114. deeboi says:

Did you see all of the Brainstorming sketch m8? It was in about 4 or 5 parts.

If you never seen the funeral part at the end then it would seem pish.

  115. Limmy says:

I did deeboi … watched it all – just didn't find it funny.

As I said, the series is growing on me – when I watched the pilot (not Series 1!!!!) I thought it was poor but a lot of the series is very funny and well observed (American words in place of words we have annoys me as well).

I'm acting like the dog in a car and trying not to think about it too much …
