  1. Brian says:

    its good

thank god it hasn’t got that shitty Look-at-me-i-have-my-own-tv-show cheesy sound to it ;)

really 80s n you thumbs up

  2. Robot says:

I hear it, i think porn. Is it just me?

  3. Give me a mandolin, some chocolate digestives and a couple of hours, and i could rape that song.

  4. PureJakeyBastart says:

Crackin. Big 80′s influence there. Kinda, Funk D’Void, sound, but mare 80′s. Am shite at explaining things. Am sure you’ll know what am oan aboot.

  5. The Weeman says:

    I rate this tune.

I am in a band, therefore my comments are more informed than your average layman.

However, I am the drummer in said band, which nullifies the previous statement.

To conclude, aye, I think it’s good.

  6. Tony says:

    Twitters fooked the now so:
Good stuff, quite 80s, reminded me of some of the stuff you’ve been listening to on Spotify.

  7. Wheely says:

It’s no long enough. Can we have a 12″ remix?

  8. apemanb says:

aye its got that eric satie kinda thing goin for it you know..its there but its no memorable and kinda inconsequential but its fulfilling its purpose nicely…whit version o reason r u using by the way?

  9. YauMannn says:

It’ good, how do you make them?

  10. The Prince Of Pish says:

    Pure Ivor Novello material.

  11. SebastiAn says:

Very flat on the beats, doesnt really go anywhere.

  12. Barry says:

Brian Eno meets west central Scotland’s premiere Flash-based comedy website stand-up/TV crossover act.

    aye?

  13. Joe Fritzl says:

reminds me of GTA vice city.

  14. sonia says:

    I like. It’s very YOU.

  15. Dubya B Yeats says:

I like it. It’s like elevator music but a better class of elevator music. I stuck it on for a wee bit there and forgot it was on; it just filled the background wi’ a nice wee chilled atmospheric ambience. Nice.

  16. Kirk says:

You’ve got an ear for a tune Limmy.

This track came piercing out of my speakers when I clicked onto your homepage and I was nicely surprised. It’s clean, summery, and it’s got more 80s influence than the Muppet Show T-shirt in your background picture.

I’ve listened to the full version. Twice.

  17. g says:

Better than i expected as i have not liked one of your many youtube song selections. well played pal

  18. Phamtom Pharter says:

Did you insist on writing the tune?

Did they offer you folk to do it?

Could you have picked a tune and they would have paid for it?

  19. Broon bottle says:

    Electro influence there I think.

  20. Broon bottle says:

I forgot to say I like it.

  21. Roach says:

Not so sure about this tune. Heavy fucking Pet Shop Boys and Erasure reminders when I heard it.

    That’s not a compliment. 80′s has gone, 90′s is where it’s at.

  22. johnifer says:

Sorry but I’m not keen… Well it’s not so much that I don’t like it, it just doesn’t really sound like a theme tune, it sounds more like the music on a promotional website for antidepressants or something…

  23. Vinnie says:

I know where Robot’s coming fae. Remember ‘Stag’ on the Amiga? Anyone?

Directing, Writing, Acting…now writing the theme. You’re wanting aw the money to yerself int ye!

  24. stephen says:

Its a bit simplistic and there’s no real tune,no hook. Sounds like the demo mode on an old keyboard

  25. highonhope says:

its good man got a euro house feel to it
is there any room for a bit of hardcore
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pa5Ug8t7fGU

  26. Neil says:

Dont like it at all mate. Definately not for your TV show.

  27. Barnaby says:

If Howard Jones heard the latest autoKratz album, and got all inspired again, and thought ‘I’m gonna have another pop at this electro lark’ and spent a week learning how to use Reason, and came up with a track that immediately confirmed for him that he was better off sticking with his burgeoning career in social work, it would sound like this.

    You did ask.

Super-fucking excited about the series, though…

  28. mickredsun says:

An onslaught of plinky plinky swooshy stabby skirly boinging.

  29. johnnyorgan says:

I forgot to lift my headphones into work the night, but I’ll give it a wee listen to tomorrow.

Is it Reason 4 you use Limmy? I seen you recommend it a few blogs back. I’m using that myself at the minute. Well, I own 3 and my co-writers have got 4 (4 runs a wee bit slow on my aging laptop). It’s amazing how compatible they are. It means I can get the initial idea down and pass it onto their more powerful machines and develop it on 4. Such a cool wee set up.

  30. Dubya B Yeats says:

    ‘Remember ‘Stag’ on the Amiga?’

Fuck THAT!! Remember THIS on the Amiga??

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2w-tiRnac2k

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFkP6xzzTeI&feature=related

Get…fucking…IN THERE!!!!!!!!!!! Best computer/console theme EVER.

  31. Marky says:

The 80′s is where it’s at. *Everything* after that by any band with “The” in their name is pure shite (with few exceptions).

  32. johnifer says:

Dubya B beats, I was thinking elevator music too. But not in a good way D:

  33. Meth says:

I dropped out about 20 seconds, I’ve hud wanks last less than that, and thats no a compliment.

  34. clydeian says:

Its very nice and aw that but is it no a bit er… summery for a show thats going to be broadcast in the middle of winter?

I’d suggest something more direct. Could ye no do a rip off of / homage to the Aphex Twin ‘I Want Your Soul’ thingmy with wee mad Muppet Show Limmys runnin aboot Priesthill for the title sequence?

Naw? Awright then, suit yersel. 80s electro shite it is, then.

  35. Ludo. says:

    aye, i’m with johnifer mate.

  36. John Braine says:

I really like it, the bass really makes it. Reminds me of Metro area. You ever release anything?

Seeing as you’re asking, I think it gets a bit weak towards the very end; where it’s just one note next to the other going up and down. But in general I really like it – and think it would work well with the end credits etc.

  37. write the theme tune, sing the theme tune…

drop a couple pills and get that on loop! Glowsticks anyone?

  38. takkischitt says:

sounds well…! what you use to make it Limmy…?

reminds me a bit of Wax Stag… http://www.myspace.com/waxstag

  39. Lady Munter says:

I like it, though I’m with johnifer – it sounds more like background music.

  40. Limmy's ghost says:

That was rubbish. I really hope you spent less time making it than I did listening to it. Unless it’s part of the joke, in which case…um, it’s not funny either! Maybe you’re just setting a low bar for the comedy to come afterwards?

Have you ever thought of doing corporate presentations?

  41. Phil Spector says:

Great. Got the tune, now just need to crack on with the actual show content…….

  42. BigRoundBaby says:

mmmm…Im no convinced, its no very “theme tune” to my ears…

  43. Tomothy says:

I like the tune, but it’s a bit odd for theme music.

  44. Mick says:

I like the beat, You should do more and release an album.

  45. JJ says:

i like the tune aye. was this done on Reason?

  46. King Rossco says:

It’ll probably work fine as a 30-second blast over the credits, but I wouldnae stick it on my iPod or anything. Is it no similar to the pilot episode theme?

  47. Mylo says:

Love it….I like the fact that it doesn’t go any where and to be honest it doesn’t need to go any where….its as if ur locked in to the 80′s vibe with the cheesy bass rappin on the door every so often…..like the beginning sequence of Madonna – Lucky Star.
    Very good Limmy…..cheesy and hilarious.

  48. stephen says:

    Demo mode on keyboard

  49. glasgowdeviant says:

aye, i could deal with that

  50. Limmy says:

    Thanks for the feedback, everybody.

Aye, it’s not very theme tuney, but I’m only going to be using 3-4 seconds of it at the start of the show, and occasionally playing it at the credits – just like what I did with the Thompson Twins one in the pilot.

But I’ve taken all the suggestions on board and I’ll probably make a few changes here and there.

    Will I fuck.

Anyway, for anybody interested, I made it using Reason 4.

  51. H Voodoo says:

You asked for opinions so here goes. As far as theme tunes go it’s not exactly memorable or hummable. It’s a nice enough bit of music as far as that style of music goes but there is no real hook. It’s nice incidental music.

You didn’t ask for suggestions but you’ll probably mind if I give you one.

Ned character in scummy living room, can of Stella, viewed from POV of TV screen. Clicks remote control and peers at screen illuminating his face. ‘Limmy’s Show?’ Starts singing adaptation of the ‘Here we go…’ football chant… ‘Here we go, here we go Limmys’s Show! Say hello, Say hello, Limmys Show… LIM-MY’S SHOW!’ as he jumps around the room, on the settee etc like a total fudd (sic?). You could vary the song with the ‘Cheerio’ version for the end credits. “Fuckin’ shite…’ Ned clicks the remote control, cut to black with a wee white dot. Cue Newsnight.

Aye, totally old school approach, but that’s just me. I don’t really care for the minimalist approach to presenting comedy (although I make an exception for Chris Morris). I was raised on Monty Python, The Young Ones, Absolutely, Naked Video and Vic Reeves. Theme tunes (and the imagery that goes along with them) should be memorable. Kids should be singing them to each other in playgrounds. Drunken bawbags should be shouting the tune at you in the street.

I don’t want you to think I’m knocking your music or show. I enjoyed the pilot and you obviously have a clear vision of how you want to do things. I’ll be there watching it along with the rest of your supporters.

  52. Caesar Portugal says:

Nice Dubya bit o the ol’ Megablast , my mate dropped that into his Dj set last Friday night. It was the baws.

Did you know it’s a blatant rip off of the theme from “Assault On Precinct 13″ by John ‘King o’ The Synths” Carpenter?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNfDSNG7Y0g

  53. Tiffany says:

I think it’s really good, and agree with Sonia, it’s very you.

  54. Limmy says:

“Theme tunes (and the imagery that goes along with them) should be memorable. Kids should be singing them to each other in playgrounds. Drunken bawbags should be shouting the tune at you in the street.”

    Should, should, should.

This should be this, this should be that. Been hearing that my whole life. Should, should, should, should, should.

    Should can go tae fuck.

  55. Limmy says:

Thanks for the feedback, though, seriously, I’m just having a laugh.

  56. Conor says:

Have u ever made any other music?

That theme is alright so i am now intrigued to hear more.

    DJ Limmy headlinin BCM

Iv got a geeky question now, do u have a midi keyboard or is it all samples/loops etc?

  57. Limmy says:

I’ve no really made any other music, Conor. I’ve fucked about in the past, making music up for Flash things, but this is the first thing I’ve made where I’ve tried to make it sound “professional”, for want of a better word. I’ve been spending time learning about compression and synthesisers and all the rest of it, and I think I’m getting somewhere (despite a few people thinking it’s a bit shite).

None of it is sampled or from loops. I’ve got a midi keyboard, so I started making up tunes that sound like the kind of things I’m into, e.g. Stock/Aitken/Waterman, Modern Talking, Giorgio Moroder, Faze Action.

Just watch this space, more to come, stay tuned.

  58. Lynn says:

If I was lieing on a beach in Ibiza sipping a mojito and that song came on I would be very happy.

  59. It’s cracking, the percussion reminds me of Road Rash for the Mega Drive.
That’s a good thing by the way.

  60. Cartoon Head says:

Dont really think much of the theme tune, its too simple, its like one of the shite tunes you get when your put on hold on the fone by some shite company that you’ve been phoning up to complain about their shite product.

You should get a proper oldskool hardcore beat as your theme tune,

Make a few more things, and get a poll on the go and let your trusty followers vote as of which one to use?

  61. Bob says:

I’m not feeling it Limmy, I don’t think it’s very memorable.

But then, it’s bereft of context, maybe with video footage it’ll all make sense.

  62. Limmy says:

“Make a few more things, and get a poll on the go and let your trusty followers vote as of which one to use?”

If you were to read that out loud, would you raise the pitch of your voice at the end like an American? Let me know, because my answer will depend upon your answer.

  63. I like H Voodoo’s suggestion a lot though!

  64. shug says:

a good first stab at a tune man, stick at it (and get logic) and you might get better

  65. Needs more 303

    Proper scary Waaawwwwpp noises.

  66. Just to qualify, its still good though.

  67. jerry the jake says:

dont know why, but it seems a wee bit mare like credits music, no?

  68. H Voodoo says:

Thanks Bob Bobbyboy. As mentioned above I think Limmy has a very clear idea for the look, sound and feel of his show. My idea might do as a 20 second promo kind of thing. Cheap to produce too.

  69. Dubya B Yeats says:

    ‘Giorgio Moroder’

    Get in! Classic Moroder…

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9V7xFiE2W8o&feature=related

And remember Limmy… “The world meets nobody halfway!” Lincoln Hawk.

  70. Dubya B Yeats says:

‘Nice Dubya bit o the ol’ Megablast , my mate dropped that into his Dj set last Friday night. It was the baws.’

Cool! Always wanted someone to do that! Good man.

‘Did you know it’s a blatant rip off of the theme from “Assault On Precinct 13? by John ‘King o’ The Synths” Carpenter?’

Yep, I knew that. Absolute class though.

  71. snout says:

I like it, minimal, tight an pure eighties.
How ye no usin thon other tune, were the Thompson Twins giein ye a hard time?

  72. Daniel says:

that sounds brilliant, here what was the song you used in the pilot episode?

  73. Kawww says:

Fuck this shite. a want Love On Your Side back.

  74. Reason 4? Good man. Thor is is mightiest of the synths.

Didny know you spent your hard earned cash on stuff like that Lim…

  75. christ on a bike says:

    fucking love faze action

  76. major mawcum says:

yer tunes awrite limmy, A bit too homodisco for me, no ken any oasis naw?

I`ll email ye some stinking thor sounds for for yer show cheef

  77. Beester says:

Even though this is good, whats wrong with the one from the pilot? I liked that too.

  78. Roach says:

I have two honest opinions on this, your tune sounds as if it isn’t quite finished.

The other is that H Voodoo’s idea is wank.

And if I was to give you a third opinion, Lynn wants to go on holiday.

  79. BigRoundBaby says:

I listened to it again at full pelt through my big badboy Genelecs and I think the bass drum needs more baws to it, EQ and compression wise. Its too thin sounding. Sometimes, when all the other sounds are playing, its no separate enough from the snare sound. I dont often use Reason so I dunno what kinda plugins you have at your disposal. I have some very nice wee weapons for this sorta thing.

I also think the snare itself needs just a tiny wee bit more prominence in the mix, possibly just by adding a touch of some sort of reverb rather than any more volume or compression, something to make it crack a bit more. its a bit too dry maybe and I dunno…seems to be fighting for attention when it should be driving along with the bass beat..

Its growing on me by the way!

  80. Limmy says:

“I also think the snare itself needs just a tiny wee bit more prominence in the mix”

I know what you mean, but I was after that keyboard demo song sound that a few people mentioned (I like it, though), I was wanting a bit of 80s video nasty soundtrack sound to it.

But I take your opinions on board, etc.!

  81. Limmy says:

“but it seems a wee bit mare like credits music, no?”

Hello Poirot, pleasure to have you here, Poirot.

  82. dead prez says:

is that not a remix of soul limbo the bbc cricket theme?

    howzat?!?!?!

  83. weegram says:

Get a microkorg xl and put some vocoder shit oan it,needs some beefing up as well.

  84. weemanafghan says:

Gonnae put it oan repeat as am usin it tae play Bejeweled then it stops an am back tae square wan, ta. It’s a kinda groovy quasi YMO sorty a tune.

  85. snout says:

    Aye needs more 303 ;)

This emulator is a lot o fun, most authentic ahve ever heard :
    http://www.spectralhead.com/silverbox.php

  86. Michael says:

It will go perfectly with your show.

  87. BigRoundBaby says:

    Weegram and Snout.

The last time I used Reason (which was a while ago), you couldnae record audio into it, and if I remember collectly, 3rd party instrument and FX plugins didnt exist cause Propellerhead didnt design it that way, all you could get was 3rd party Refills for sounds n stuff.

The only way round this was to use the whole ReWire thing and link Reason itself up to Logic or Protools or cubase etc..

Has this aw changed in Reason 4 or what?

  88. PmackC says:

get chez damier to remix it and i’ll like it.

  89. Fullbhuna says:

Husband and I started nodding our heads in sync, he then began shouting “Sunflower” periodically every 3 beats, until I hit him. It’s a mellow tune, very chilled out, nice to have in the bacground whilst reading on the sofa. I can imagine how it migh ‘flow’ through an episode of your new show but I’m no TV/media typey person.

  90. Gee says:

Why don’t you offer it to the blog public to take what you’ve done and beef it up/remix it/whatever… save you the hassle, then we can all vote for the best, then we’ll feel like we’ve all helped make Limmy’s show in a wee way? Naw? Shite idea?

  91. LondonRoadBoy says:

“I also think the snare itself needs just a tiny wee bit more prominence in the mix, possibly just by adding a touch of some sort of reverb rather than any more volume or compression, something to make it crack a bit more.”

Naw naw naw. Beware of the armchair expert.

Firstly, the last thing you would do to the snare to give it more prominence is add reverb as that will in effect push it further back in the mix and therefore make it LESS prominent in the mix.

Secondly, using reverb will only serve to smooth or dull down the attack on any percussive sound (unless of course a short ‘pre-delay’ is added allowing the attack portion to happen prior to the reverb kicking in). A straight reverb with little or no pre-delay will make the hit feel rounded off.

If you want the snare (or any other drum/percussion track) to sound tighter, snappier, and more ‘professional’ then compression is what you should be spending the time on. Whilst compression is a black art to many it is without doubt the key process to any good mix.

    TIP OF THE DAY:

Whilst correct threshold/ratio settings for any mix are important, the attack and release settings on a compressor are often overlooked. These have a huge effect on the end result. Use your ears as your guide and set your attacks paying close attention to the style of the sounds in the mix (a faster attack for a heavier/harder sound), and your releases to the feel and tempo of the music (the recovery time should flow with the tempo in the track).

(Invoice in the post to BigRoundBaby)

ps. send me the parts and i’ll mix it for you for free.

  92. H Voodoo says:

Does Limmy’s Blog look like a democracy? There will be no voting here, and if there was it would probably be rigged. Remember how easily he changed his Apprentice prediction? He’s west central Scotland’s premier Flash-based comedy website stand-up/TV crossover act supremo and iron fisted grammar fascist blog dictator.

  93. Lynn says:

I think we have a new quote for all Limmy’s Show PR

  94. snout says:

Wis jokin aboot the need for 303, and reason isnae vst, but if ye really wanted to ye could sync the 303 manually and record it aw wi a mic!

  95. Menson says:

It’s really great. You should make a few more tracks.

  96. seba says:

quite a nice elctroness with a funky funkyness

  97. fiona says:

I like it cos’ I LIVED the 80′s and you made me feel nostalgic. Memories of drinking Malibu & Coke in my Ra-Ra skirt and white court shoes and dancing round my handbag to Kid Creole – at the DISCO (!!)

The 00′s are shite by comparison.

  98. BigRoundBaby says:

    Haha…

    Well done LondonRoadBhoy.

    You showed me eh?

  99. clydeian says:

Hate to say this, but it is growing on me. Reminds me of the music from OutRun.

Good music to chillmax to. (Come on, keep up).

  100. tourist guide says:

    Hey Limmy.
Great tune ! Do you have any more music coming up?
    Cheers.
