Sorry to go on about religion again, I promise to be funny soon.
I was wondering if I was breaking the law with my rant about the Orange Walk earlier. And maybe I am, after reading a bit of the Racial and Religious Hatred Act 2006:
29A Meaning of “religious hatred”
In this Part “religious hatred” means hatred against a group of persons defined by reference to religious belief or lack of religious belief.
29C Publishing or distributing written material
(1) A person who publishes or distributes written material which is threatening is guilty of an offence if he intends thereby to stir up religious hatred.
Which means that if I stir up hatred for Christians who want to stone people for gathering sticks on a Sunday, I’d get done for it.
But then I thought of how the Bible and Koran go on about how Jews, Christians and Muslims should hate and kill non-believers. Stone them this and cut off their heads that.
That means Jews, Christians and Muslims are publishing and distributing written material which is threatening and intends thereby to stir up religious hatred!
I’ve got them! I’ve fucking got them!
I’ve got them on Section 29C, paragraph 1 of the Racial and Religious Hatred Act 2006!
I actually do! All joking aside, I actually do, don’t I?
I think you might be right – but there’s probably a loophole. See if you managed to get the Bible, Koran etc banned, though? You’d make the fatwah on Salman Rushdie look like a game of hide-and-seek on a rainy playtime.
You wurny inciting hatred with the Orange Walk post – just saying you didn’t like it. Following the same logic you wouldn’t be able to say that, for example, running a marathon was stupid and made no sense and did your heid in without inciting hatred against marathon runners.
And I do hate marathon runners.
First you gotta reference a Bible passage that stirs up hatred toward non-believers.
Then you’ve got those 2000 year old fuckers right where you want them!
Wish I could believe in nothing. Life would be so easy and meaningless.
I certainly wouldnt call it religious hatred,I think you were merely expressing what most rational, intelligent people think when it comes to stuff like this.
And you should be applauded for it…how many other social commentators in Scotland actually discuss this? No many…
It’s actually embarassing when you see them and think you live in the same country and possibly work with folk that hold those beliefs and are prepared to march down a street wearing a sash to “protect” them!
You do mate…you fuckin do! I’d get a complaint into the polis sharpish if I was you, it might bring about a political sea change, and allow the rest of us to live in peace without some goon shouting in yer face about God, or maybe not.
But either way, it’ll be good publicity for ye.
You know it makes sense…
Ye were right in the first place though, those Orange cunts are fuckin clowns! I was there a couple of years ago, waiting patiently to cross St Vincent street at Buchanan street, right where ye took the photie, and who wanders past, dressed in the full garb but my fuckin uncle! The tool’s only gone and joined up some lodge in his 70s! Looked bored shitless right enough. I just stood and shook my heid at him.
Bang tae rights….. Now ye can move tae prosecute….. Hmm….? Where tae begin……?
Yep! You do!
…although the religious hatred act was drawn up in 2006. If it were drawn up in, say, the year 10AD then all the religious killings would be illegal! So it’s only been illegal to hate religiousness (?) for about a year.
Public Stoning in Nazareth? perfectly legal.
Beheading a bloke on video? Ok by the law
911? All above board! (that is, if it wasn’t planned by Bush!)
Crashing a car into Glasgow Airport? ILLEGAL!
That’s a good, if rather convoluted, point. I would like to meet an agnostic schizophrenic who had a split personality of atheist, agnostic, fundamental muslim, bleeding heart liberal and jehovah’s witness. Imagine if they were in a car crash and needed a blood transfusion followed by having to chooses if the wanted a halal or kosher meal in hospital. They would be at odds with themselves and maybe try to bring action upon themselves under this act…oh dear… i’ve gone cross-eyed.
Just read that link to the bible and Moses had it made. Anything he didn’t like and he could just pipe up that the LORD told him it was wrong and they must die. Then everyone’s like: Moses knows the LORD, lets do what he says. The man was a fucking Genius.
Jesus should have learned from him. Then he might not have been done in on the cross. Anyone that told Moses he was lying, Moses would given it the “LORD told me this man is a lying heathen. Time for a stoning, boys.” treatment. Fucking genius.
And I thought Jesus was supposed to be the star of the show.
Oh, and as I am what can only be described as an ex-catholic and true non-believer, I don’t mind the actual marchers, the lodge and the even the music. In fact the music isn’t too bad. What really, really fucks me off is the wake of scum that trails off the back of the marches. It’s a fucking embarassment to all Glaswegians.
Don’t think it was as bad as this though, so you should be alright!

Of course you do. What you gonna do about it though eh?
I think Marcus Aurelieus sums up the god question the best …
“Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.”
.
(^ That’s a full-stop up there for deadprez’s quote. Let’s hear it fer deadprez and big Marcus!)
And I’m a right good cunt so i’m sorted.
Limmy, you should check out http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/ if you haven’t already, its shaking the fundamentals of every cunts religion and it’s been banned on youtube. Link takes you to a flash embedded streaming movie, so you have no excuse not to check it out.

Just as well old Moses wasn’t in Gladiator or the LORD would have given him the word to start the stone-pelting. Bit of a shite way to end the film, but at least it wouldn’t have dragged it out as much as the real film.
Posts like this will change the world.
I’m completely with deadprez on that one.
Although let’s face it there is no fucking god.
It’s just nice to be nice.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Don’t get me started on the bible n awe that pish! What about that wee baby mammoth found today? It wiz chillin 4 millennia before the beginning of the world according to the reference material previously mentioned. I suggest u utilise 29C to put this arse gravy out of print!

“John Paul II anti-christ” – brutal…
whats a bible ?
People twist words and meanings, as they like to suit their own justification of religion. My family has just recently been likened to the persecutors of Jesus Christ and my mother to Pontius pilot.
Religion has been divided so many times Jesus is the Truth, and Christ is not divided, have you ever wondered why there are so many theologies. Each one claims to be the true doctrine. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life” Yet there are so many divisions in the church because of doctrine.
What the fuck am I talking about?
whats a bible ?
It’s the novelisation of an old Cecil B. DeMille movie starring Charlton Heston and Yul Brynner. In the book, but, there’s a bit where 3 lassies get their Da drunk and take turns shagging him.
BAN THIS VILE BOOK.
Oh aye, and there’s a bit in the book too where a guy has a wank and God strikes him down.
QUITE RIGHT.
You’re spot on Limmy. Sunni and Shia muslims now hate each other, so they’re acting unlawfully, right? Watered down xtians “tolerate” other xtians like the Mormons, Jehovahs, Catholics, whatever, but fundamentalist xtians (born agains) hate them all. Organised religion is divisive by nature, feeds off fear and nurtures hatred. The false modesty and humbleness of the “tolerant” is nauseous.
The Racial and Religious Hatred Act means just that, you have to be a racist or religious to hate. This is fucking 2007 people. Get an education.
The month of marching in Glasgow is something I think as a native we all take for granted and get irritated by it – to varying degrees. Imagine my surprise, when taking my scouse boyfriend roon Glasgow Cathedral for a bit of culture ‘n’ that, we bumped into the shitey tail-end of the 1st July march, he was gobsmacked at the laughable arrogance of these numpties. He’d never seen anything like it – I was very proud to be a Glaswegian that day…

pilot…….?
Haaaaaa…………………
Elv: As you can see from the link below, we scousers have to put up with the very same shit as you do every year, with the Orange Lodge, so not sure where your boyfriend has been his whole life.

Have you ever thought about forming your own, small religion Limmy? You could make it a requirement that all your followers must take the name of a World Of Glasgow character, and decree that they all try to live their lives as that character would live their life. I think it could be a winner. It might even be tax-deductable.

Aaron, thanks for that. I was vaguely aware that there were marches down that way but have never really been told about them. I will, however, be sure to ask my boyfriend where he has been his whole life.

Did any of you see that program on scientology? The one where this right little stupid cunt was so brainwashed in to thinking he and scientology was great he didn’t know how much of a total cunt he was being and the BBC bloke had to shout at him like a mong? If they are all like that nippy little stupid bollocks that’s one ‘religion’ we could all love to hate.
Elv, much appreciated. Let me know how you get on!

Dawkins, Grayling, and Hitchen’s new tome:”God is not Great”, are all good sources of scorn for the gnome-followers: well deduced.
This monty python/star wars parody illustrates it well:-
